Reading

Reading struggles for students come in many different forms, ranging from difficulty with phonological and phonemic awareness (sounding out words, blending sounds to form words, or even deleting and replacing wounds to create new words), to understanding/ comprehending information presented in text.
Students who participate in tutoring at our Center receive one-to-one support. This one-to-one, intense approach versus small group, ensures each child’s tutoring program is individualized and specific to his/her learning style. Evidence gathered from our individualized approach has shown the majority of students increase their reading skills upwards of 2 years in as little as a year’s time. All tutoring is provided in accordance with state standards and is delivered by intervention specialists who are highly qualified and licensed by the State of Ohio.

Math

Understanding math patterns is critical to developing strong math skills. The concepts and applications of math help increase everyday problem solving skills. Like our reading program, students receive one-to-one support. Based on a child’s need, we provide foundational goals to help develop conceptual learning and fluency. In addition we work to help develop an appreciation for math and a feeling of competency. All tutoring is provided in accordance with state standards and is delivered by intervention specialists who are highly qualified and licensed by the State of Ohio.

Writing

Strong readers make great writers! Understanding each student’s individual weaknesses and strengths helps develop a variety of writing skills using reading strategies. At the Center we not only help students strengthen penmanship, spacing, grammar and sentence mechanics, we help students develop a love of writing. By developing an ability to identify power verbs, “unpack prompts,” develop outlines to organize thoughts, students become more efficient and effective in their writing. Like our reading and math programs, students receive one-to-one support.
